Engineering PLUS Western Regional Hub (WRH):
The overarching goal of the NSF Eddy Bernice INCLUDES Engineering PLUS AllianceĀ is to increase the annual number of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) and women receiving undergraduate/graduate degrees in engineering to 100,000/30,000 by 2026. To achieveĀ this, one of the approaches that we have adopted is community building, partnership, and networking through the formation of regional hubs.
The MRH, led by University of California- Santa Cruz, focuses on building partnerships among institutions in Western America who share the mission of the Alliance. The multi-year plans for the WRH include efforts to address issues related to; 1) Retention and Enrichment, 2) Recruitment/Admissions and Readiness, and 3) Institutional Culture and Climate. The Hub is establishing Impact Working Groups for the undergraduate and graduate levels tasked with addressing these three foci. Additionally, the WRH works closely with the stEm PEER Academy with a focus on scaling-up and providing expertise to implement best practices and pedagogies. We hold a monthly meeting with all partnering institutions as well as bi-weekly meetings with hub leaders. The current partner institutions within the WRH will be posted on this page soon.
