January 2023 Regional Hubs Convening
The Engineering PLUS Alliance Regional Hubs Convening took place on Friday, January 27th virtually on Zoom. Marshall Milner, Engineering PLUS New England Regional Hub Lead, and Richard Harris, Engineering PLUS Co-PI, kicked off the convening with welcoming remarks and introductions of the day’s topics. The day included updates of the stEm PEER Academy by Claire Duggan (Engineering PLUS Co-PI), a presentation on the Undergraduate Insights from the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) by Carmen Sidbury ( Engineering PLUS Collaborator), and breakout sessions led by Chris Botanga (Engineering PLUS Midwest Regional Hub Lead), Aida Abraha (Engineering PLUS Midwest Regional Hub Coordinator), Tadarrayl Starke (Engineering PLUS New England Regional Hub Co-Lead) and Richard Harris. The breakout sessions discussed institutional impediments to the success of women and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) in Engineering as well as major institutional support and resources that are available for women and BIPOC in Engineering.
